►Our History
Back in 1997, lifelong Vero Beach resident Mike Lundeen had a small problem. The year before he had opened a Pak Mail franchise and now he was starting to accumulate boxes and boxes of confidential company files.
According to Mike, “We didn’t really have much storage space in the store. So I was storing all these boxes at my home.”
Knowing there had to be a better solution; Mike started looking for a local records storage company where he could store his files. That’s when he encountered problem number two.
“The closest records storage company was more than an hour away” says Mike, “and that just wasn’t feasible.”
Sensing both a need and an opportunity, first Mike worked with a programmer to develop proprietary software for tracking and retrieving files. Then he rented a 6,000 square ft. warehouse and installed a state of the art security system, with alarms, motion detectors and “card key only” access. He named his new business venture Storage Solutions and began marketing his services to the Vero Beach community. It was an immediate hit. Within six months of opening, the original Storage Solutions warehouse was at capacity and Mike had to start looking for a larger space.
Today Storage Solutions is a 30,000 square foot facility that provides records storage and delivery services to hundreds of businesses both large and small. Their clients include medical facilities, banks, credit unions, law firms, mortgage companies, accounting firms and retail operations.
Hurricanes of 2004 & 2005
When three hurricanes, Frances, Jeanne and Wilma struck the Vero Beach area in 2004 and 2005. Many businesses were devastated by the rain and hurricane-force winds, and the storage industry was among the hardest hit.
Mini-storage facilities suffered severe structural damage and remained closed for weeks. One local moving and storage facility lost part of their roof, resulting in the loss of thousands of client records.
Meanwhile, Storage Solutions suffered no significant damage, because their reinforced concrete facility was built to withstand winds of up to 140 miles an hour. So while other storage companies scrambled to save their records, Storage Solutions switched to “generator power” and remained open 24/7 to service the Vero Beach business community.
